Ethan Zargo will deliver an in-person talk on Psychology in Photography on September 16th at Kin Village. This talk explores how viewers experience images, not just how photographers create them. We look at what pulls attention, what creates emotion, and what makes an image stay with you. We study a range of images including Renaissance painters and ask why certain work lands and why other work falls flat. Understanding how people view your images changes how you see before you ever raise the camera.

Ethan is a former computer engineer and devoted left-brain user. After careful consideration, he decided his left side was getting a little too muscular and heavy, and it was time to work on the right. He became a professional photographer based in Vancouver. He is now coming back to the photo club he first started with – now an award-winning architectural and commercial photographer. That is either a success story or a very long detour. He prefers to call it the first!

His work was exhibited in New York in June 2026. He won the Applied Arts Architectural Photography Award that same year and received Honourable Mentions at the Black and White International Photo Awards in Architecture and Sports, and at the Paris International Street Photo Awards in Architecture.
