Happy New Year to all DPC members from your dynamic outings duo, Dave and David.  We hope you had a picture perfect holiday and that Santa rewarded your good behaviour with a stocking full of new photo gear.

To test that gear, DPC’s first official outing of 2019 will be an evening photowalk at historic Steveston Village and Harbour—a picturesque authentic fishing port by day and a multi-coloured oasis of artificial light by night.  We will be honing our low-light long exposure techniques and compositional skills to create images that pop.  It will be a time to socialize, to share knowledge and to master equipment.

For a century, the harbour, the wharves and the canning plants of Steveston were the epicenter of Western Canada’s fishing industry.  Now, a hub of local tourism, it is known as much for its seafood restaurants as it is for its daily fresh catch on fisherman’s wharf.

Details for the outing are as follows:

DATE:  January 30, 2019

TIME:  7:00 pm

PLACE:  Steveston Village.  We will meet at the SW corner of One Road & Moncton in front of Rocanini Coffee Roasters.

GEAR:  Bring wide angle or medium telephoto lenses, camera, tripod, extra batteries, SD cards, protective gear sleeves/covers and remote triggers.  Dress warmly.

TRANSPORTATION:  Carpooling will be the best option.  Ample free parking (2 hr limit) on the street, but there are several no-limit parking lots in the vicinity

REFRESHMENTS:  We will finish up around 9:00 pm for appies and winter ales at the Blue Canoe bar overlooking harbour.
