Delta Photo Club was pleased to present ““Gear, Tips and Tricks for Capturing Great Images of Birds” by acclaimed photographer Elizabeth Gray on Wednesday, April 3. Recording now available for members.

Elizabeth says, “How many ‘butt’ shots of birds flying away do you have? I know that I have far more than my share! I will discuss the gear and camera settings needed to capture great photographs of birds. I will explain different focus modes and when to use them. In addition, I will talk about ways to elevate your images from ‘birds on a stick’ to engaging images showing behavior, flight, and bird portraits.”

Elizabeth loves to teach and has been doing so for over 30 years. After graduating from UBC in structural engineering she spent 25 years teaching structural design, mathematics, and calculus at BCIT. During a five-year stint in the U.S., Elizabeth combined both her love of teaching and passion for photography into her photography education business. She loves hiking, camping, cats, chocolate, and of course her husband of thirty-five years and two daughters. She shoots with several Fujifilm cameras, and a Nikon FX film camera.

If Elizabeth could pass on only one thing to her students, it would be to make sure they print their work! Physical prints are a profound way to remember. They are tangible, unlike the virtual files that reside on your phone or computer. There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing your carefully crafted image on a print.
