Coaching Night on Dec. 18, 2024 with Judy Hancock Holland
December 8, 2024Is a camera simply an artistic tool like a piano or paint brush, or does it assume creative choices without our input? Technological advances have meant that more and more camera functions are made automatically, and now, artificial intelligence can insert and remove elements in a photograph on demand. Photography brings into focus the intersection of human creativity and the objective capture of the visual world.
The Delta Photo Club is pleased to invite the public to a talk on the philosophy of photography by UBC Killam Professor Dr Dominic McIvor Lopes. Professor Lopes is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and University Killam Professor at the University of British Columbia. He is the author books and papers on pictures and their values, new technologies in the arts, the nature of art, and the nature and significance of aesthetic value.
His talk is titled What Is Photography? And Why Should You Care?
Please join us on the evening of 5 February 2025, 7:30 PM to 9:30PM for this interesting dive into the nature of photography. Attendance is free but attendees must register using this form:
