Hi Everyone
From Dave Francis and David Egan
We would like to welcome back all former and new DPC members to this the 50th anniversary 2020/21 season. Although most club functions will be virtual, there will be opportunities through the year to meet in person (with precautions) to hone and practice our photography skills. And so, while observing covid guidelines and distancing measures, our first outing will be an afternoon photowalk (1-3pm) September 29th (Tuesday) through Surrey’s historic Redwood Park–note new date! This park, known to a number of our members, is a spectacular natural destination, featuring a large forest of select exotic trees, 5km+ of scenic trails and an iconic fairy kingdom—-yes, they do exist!
Outing details as follows:
Where: Redwood Park, Surrey BC, 17900 20th Ave. The park is about 3 km east of Darts Hill Gardens. Proceed east from 176th along 20th ave to park entrance before 180st. Parking available within park.
When: September 29th, Tuesday @ 1:00pm-3:00pm. Be early so we can start on time.
Gear: Recommended: fast macro, wide or telephoto zoom lenses. The trail canopy results in low light situations, creating challenges for aperture/ISO. Bring monopod or travel tripod to stabilize SS below 1/30 if no VR. Speedlights, LED wands/cubes, collapsible reflectors could be helpful as well. Forecast precipitation is 20%, so bring protection.
Snacks: Bring personal light refreshment and foldup chair. We will wrap up around 3pm, back at the rest/picnic area near parking lot.
Parking: Parking available at the end of driveway into park.
Social distancing will be adhered to, and masks should be brought in the event proper separation is not possible. For maps and details regarding Redwood Park, see the links below for more info.
