DPC Photo Night is Wednesday, March 9, 2022

Spring is around the corner, bringing longer days, warmer temperatures, more sunny skies but we are not going to fully say good-bye to some of our Winter themes!!

Here are this month’s Photo Night Challenge Categories:

1) Ice Formations – Hopefully to say adieu to Winter … Along with the opportunity that Ice presents for beautiful images, it also presents its unique challenges with light and colour. Show us how you have overcome these challenges with your photos in this category.

2) High Key – High key photography is a style of photography that uses unusually bright lighting to reduce or completely blow out dark shadows in the image. High key shots usually lack dark tones and the high key look is generally thought of as positive and upbeat.

3) Moon – The moon’s ethereal qualities can evoke powerful moods and emotions. Shooting a bright subject in the midst of total darkness can throw up all sorts of challenges in terms of exposure and focusing. Let’s see what great results we can achieve while we still have some winter sky.

4) Shadows in Nature – What dwells in the dark regions and is sometimes overlooked can often have more significance than the brightly lit portions of image real estate. Instead of simply having shadows be a component in your photo, you may want to try making shadows the subject – the main focus of your image. We’ve done shadows found in or created from architecture, these shadows are those found in nature.

5) Open

Note: Each member can submit up to 2 images for each of the challenge categories

As a reminder we have a year long photography challenge where members are challenged to take an image of the same location, space, or item, in all four (4) of our seasons. The idea is that this location/space/item will change with the seasons and therefore represent all the changes that come each time our season and weather changes. This challenge was introduced last spring and will culminate in a presentation of member’s images May 2022. Note: the image you take this season (winter) isn’t shown this photo night, but will become a project/image you will share of all 4 images in May of this year.

Members can also send short slideshows or videos.

Please check your email with subject “Virtual DPC Photo Night, March 9” to see the Zoom meeting details and for the link to upload your images to. Images should be uploaded by 12:00pm/noon Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Videos and slideshows are best to be sent via a free program such as ‘We Transfer’, and submitted to photonight@deltaphotoclub.com

Remember, for the best display quality, images should be resized to a maximum width of 1920 pixels and a maximum height of 1080 pixels. This may not be possible with cell/tablet images so please send us the largest image possible, up to the limits indicated above.

It is important to name your files as shown below so that they can be sorted and everyone’s images can be shown.
