Happy New Year! 

Our first photo night of 2026 will be on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 p.m. using Zoom. (The Zoom link will be sent the day before, January 13, 2026)

Our themes for January are as follows:

1) Light Reflections and/or Bokeh (LRB): At Christmas we see a lot of light displays and though they are pretty there isn’t always an artistic photo opportunity. Our challenge is for you to submit images that show some artistic flair with Christmas light reflections and/or bokeh.

Bokeh (pronounced BOH-kuh) in photography refers to the aesthetic quality of the blur in the out-of-focus parts of an image, especially how light appears in those blurry areas, creating soft, pleasing orbs or shapes. It’s not the blur itself (that’s depth of field), but the character of that blur, described as the smoothness, shape, and feel of out-of-focus light and background areas, which can be “silky,” “buttery,” or even “busy” and “swirly” depending on the lens.

2) New Year/New Beginnings (NYNB): Capture an image that tells the story of a new beginning or a new years resolution.

3) Horse : In the Chinese Zodiac, on February 17, 2026 the Year of the Fire Horse (or Red Horse) begins. In observance of this upcoming year, we’re asking you to share your horse images. These can be literal or symbolic images, it’s your interpretation.

4) Open: The opportunity to submit photos which don’t fit into the other categories.

Note: Each member can submit up to 2 images for each of the 3 themes of 1) Feathered Friends  2) Mood Photography 3) Open

Each member can submit up to 1 video/slideshow per photo night.

Submission Deadline

Images/videos/slideshows need to be uploaded by by 4:00pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 using our upload forms.

Members see the email announcement from January 6th for upload links, etc.
