DESCRIPTION:DPC Outings - Burns Bog Delta Nature Reserve\n\nGreetings DPC m
 embers\n\nDave and David\, your outings coordinators\, invite you to an ac
 tual outdoor outing at the Burns Bog Delta Nature Reserve.\n\nBurns Bog is
  the largest domed peat bog in the world and the Nature Reserve is a small
  sliver of land on the eastern edge. There are trails\, a stream and board
 walks through the forest to walk on and explore this area.\n\nI am particu
 larly fond of this area as I (David E.) run here three times per week. Ove
 r the years I have seen beavers\, spawning salmon\, kingfishers\, herons a
 nd ducks in the stream. I've spotted deer\, coyote and evidence of black b
 ears in the forest.\n\nThe last two years in June there has been a family 
 of Barred owls - two adults that raise their young owlets in the trees nea
 r the stream. They do not seem to be afraid of humans. Often\, in the even
 ings\, they will be perched on branches that are only 10 to 15 feet away f
 rom the people on the trail and sometimes quite low - at eye level. I don'
 t know if they will be there this year\, it may be too early\, but we will
  keep our eyes peeled.\n\nWe know the weather is not exactly typical mid M
 ay weather but we thought we would organize this and hope for the best. Ch
 eck your email for last minute updates on Wednesday afternoon in case we d
 ecide to cancel the outing due to inclement weather.\n\nDetails as follows
 :\n\nWhere: Burns Bog Delta Nature Reserve. We will meet at Planet Ice Del
 ta\, at the south end of the Alex Fraser Bridge. 10388 Nordel Court\, Delt
 a\, BC.\nLink to directions on google maps\n\nWhen: Wednesday May 18th at 
 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm.\n\nParking: Lots of parking at Planet Ice. The trail e
 ntrance is at the furthest point from the entrance to the parking lot clos
