It is coming up next week\, are you r eady?\n\nThis month's categories all fall under the title of "Winter Wonde rs". Let's show off the photos we've taken of snow\, winter sports and a c hallenging theme of 'white out" where everything is white. Taking pictures in the snow and of snow can challenge us as photographers because we need to ensure our highlights aren't "blown out"\, or overexposed (rendering v ery little details in the highlights). We also need to ensure there are de tails in the shadows as well. So\, this month's themes are designed to sho w how you've mastered these challenging conditions. We will also include a n "other" theme\, to ensure everyone gets an opportunity to submit some im ages.\n\nTo give some examples\, the 'snow' category can include pictures of snow-capped mountains\, a snowy landscape\, animals in the snow or an i mage of falling snow. The 'winter sports' category is for images of people or animals participating in winter sports. Lastly the 'white out' theme c an be any image with an all white look\, such as a white ribbon on a white background.\n\nAs December's brief tutorial in Photoshop demonstrated how to remove objects and portions of an image in a number of ways\, February 's challenge category will show Before/After images where objects and port ions of an image have been removed. Note: As this is a challenge categor y for learning and using Photoshop\, try using Photoshop to edit your imag e.\n\nIf time permits\, February's Photoshop tutorial will focus on Black and White images that have a touch of colour in them and changing the colo ur of objects in an image. For example\, a yellow shirt changed to a blue shirt. The demonstration may also include selecting objects using the Brus h tool and how the Brush tool can be adjusted and/or changed. This tutoria l will then inspire next month's challenge theme where you can submit a be fore and after image that shows either B&\;W with a 'pop' of colour or an object's change of colour.\n\nNOTE: This month's submission time has b een extended as this notice went out later than normal.\n\nCategories are: Snow\; Winter Sports (WS)\; Whiteout\; Other and the Photoshop challenge: Before and After - Removing Objects\n\nNote: Each member can submit up to 3 images for each of the five categories.\n\nMembers can also send short slideshows or videos.  We will show all the categories\, and end with vid eos\, as time permits.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRemember\, for t he best display quality\, images should be resized to a maximum width of 1 920 pixels and a maximum height of 1080 pixels. This may not be possible w ith cell/tablet images so please send us the largest image possible\, up t o the limits indicated above.\n\nIt is important to name your files as sho wn below so that they can be sorted and everyone's image can be shown.
