Selection night for the “Celebration of Nature Photography 2019” competition is fast approaching!

Time to find your best nature photos for the selection night on Wednesday October 23, 2019.
This competition is being held by the Lions Gate Camera Club and there are changes from previous competitions.
The instructions per the Lions gate Camera Club are as follows.
There are 4 categories:
1 – Botanical – subjects such as wild flowers, plants, trees, fungi & algae. Germinated & grown without human assistance.
2 – Nature – subjects such as animals, birds, insects, reptiles & marine subjects – under the control & feeding of humans if not obvious – such as zoos, game farms, animal preserves, aquarium etc.
3 – Landscape – subjects such as weather phenomena, geological formations, landscapes, seascapes & natural phenomena, planets, stars & astronomical events – no hand of man.
4 – Wildlife – ONLY living & untamed mammals, birds, insects, reptiles & marine subjects – no hand of man.
Note: Hand of man means devoid of ALL human elements & impacts of human activities.
Restricted Editing – No techniques that add, relocate, replace or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning. Techniques that remove elements added by the camera such as dust spots, digital noise & film scratches are allowed. Stitched images are not permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Colour images can be converted to grey scale monochrome. Infrared images are not allowed.
Important Note –  the entrant must preserve the submitted image’s original un-retouched JPEG or RAW file.
Image Specifications – submitted JPEG image must comply with:
   1 – Dimensions: maximum horizontal size is 1400 pixels & maximum vertical size is 1050 pixels.
         Note: one of the dimensions must be exactly the maximum allowed size & neither dimension may exceed the maximum pixels for that dimension.
   2 – Colour Space: sRGB
   3 – Colour Accuracy: strongly recommend you calibrate your monitor to ensure colour accuracy from your image to the image projected to the judges.
   4 – Maximum file size: 1.8 MB
Label your images as follows:
1 – John Doe – Pretty Picture.jpg
Use 2 for 2nd photo etc.
Title must be 5 words or less.
Each member may submit up to 3 images.
Images that have previously placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in multi club competitions in BC & the Yukon, or images entered in previous Celebration of Nature competitions are not acceptable.
No borders, frames or signatures are allowed.
